The mystery surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy has intrigued the public for over six decades. In a recent development, the FBI discovered about 2,400 records tied to JFK’s assassination that had never been disclosed. These records, found in 14,000 pages of documents, came to light after President Trump’s executive order on January 23, 2025, demanding the release of all JFK assassination records.

The discovery, made 61 years after the assassination, has raised questions about government transparency and the procedures for vetting and releasing sensitive information. Jefferson Morley, an expert on the assassination, believes that this discovery shows the FBI is taking the matter seriously and responding to the president’s order. However, experts caution that the remaining records are unlikely to definitively prove whether Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone or was part of a broader conspiracy.

In a bid to address long-standing public interest in historical events, Representative Anna Paulina Luna has taken the lead in establishing the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets. This task force aims to review and make declassification recommendations for documents related to several major events, including the JFK assassination.

The task force’s first hearing is scheduled for March 26, 2025, and will focus on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The hearing will be open to the public and the media, ensuring transparency and allowing the American people to gain insights into the findings and discussions. The task force will also visit the assassination site in Dallas and speak with first-hand witnesses.

Representative Luna emphasized the importance of restoring trust through transparency and ensuring that the American people have access to the truth. The task force has initiated communications with various federal agencies, requesting briefings on documents related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as other key national secrets.

While the newly discovered records may not provide definitive answers, the efforts of Representative Luna’s task force signify a step towards greater transparency and accountability. The American people eagerly await the findings of the task force, hoping for a clearer understanding of the events that shaped history.
